The bodies of a 27-year-old Syrian woman and her two young children have been found in a freezer in southern Denmark.

The head of Austria's far-right Freedom Party (FPÖ) has branded Angela Merkel Europe's most dangerous politician and says her migrant policy has paved the way for a possible civil war.

The comments came from Heinz-Christian Strache, in a speech delivered for the Austrian National Day that takes place on Wednesday 26th October.

Strache was speaking in front of hundreds of listeners in the Epstein Palace in Vienna where he not only spoke out against the red-black "stagnation...

The number of migrants sleeping rough on the streets of Paris has risen by at least a third since the start of the week when the “Jungle” shanty town in Calais was evacuated, officials said.

Along the bustling boulevards and a canal in a northeastern corner of Paris, hundreds of tents have been pitched by migrants - mostly Africans who say they are from Sudan - with cardboard on the ground to try and insulate them from the cold.

While the presence of migrants there is not new,...

At least 90 migrants who refused to leave the so-called “Jungle” camp in Calais, northern France, have been detained before deportation, a French NGO said on Friday.

The CIMADE organization said the 90 migrants were taken to detention centers ahead of being sent back to their countries in 45 days' time.

Among the migrants were people from Sudan, Afghanistan, Syria, Eritrea and Iraq, the organization added.

According to the French Interior Ministry, almost 5,600 migrants...

More than 90 people are thought to have drowned after their unsafe boat was damaged and sunk after leaving Libya for Europe.

General Ayoub Gassim, spokesperson for the Libyan navy, said on Thursday that the overcrowded inflatable dinghy carrying 126 people ripped and began taking on water about 26 miles (42 kilometres) off the Libyan coast.

Only 29 people were rescued, and the coast guard are still looking for survivors. Three women and a child are among the missing.

Children have been sent back to a demolished and burning campsite in Calais despite French authorities declaring the "jungle" had been emptied.
Aid organisations have told The New Arab that dozens of children who were turned away when the registration office closed at 12.15pm on Wednesday were left with no choice but to go back to the "dangerous" camp where bulldozers have torn apart wooden shacks and tents are ablaze.

A French official had said the camp would be cleared by...

A poster mocking child refugees has been displayed on the wall of a communal kitchen in Parliament.

Labour MP, Chi Onwurah, tweeted the picture that shows an elderly man wearing a keffiyeh.

The text reads: “Just £3 from you could clothe and feed his 12yr old Syrian child for a week.”

Ms Onwurah tweeted: "Upset someone in Parliament thought it funny to display this in the communal kitchen over the weekend."

Onwurah told The Huffington Post UK: “It was spotted...

The Australian government is responsible for the deliberate and systematic torture of refugees on Nauru and should be held accountable under international law, according to a major new report informed by unprecedented access to the secretive island.

Amnesty International said it had interviewed 62 refugees and asylum seekers on Nauru, and more than a dozen current or former contract workers who delivered services on behalf of the Australian government, to compile a report it titled:...

THERE ARE NEW arrivals in the once grand park of Pedion tou Areos in central Athens. Among the drug dealers and dog walkers, joggers and junkies, are a shifting cast of refugee children. Lured into the vastness of its ruined tree-lined avenues and vandalized statues by the promise of money and a way out of Greece, they have found themselves prey to a burgeoning sex trade.

Every day as the intense heat of Athenian summer slides towards sunset, young boys take their places, sitting...

Children will "just disappear" into the hands of smugglers and people-traffickers as French authorities clear the Calais ‘Jungle’ camp, a leading MP has warned.

Yvette Cooper said that despite efforts to bring unaccompanied children to the UK from the immigrant camp, there are still hundreds there as bulldozers are poised to move in.

Ms Cooper, who chairs the influential Home Affairs Committee, said the British and French authorities had not acted quickly enough or gone far...

A Swedish asylum center burned down overnight in a suspected attack by arsonists, police said on Friday, the second incident of its kind in a week in the Stockholm region.

Staff alerted police in the early hours of Friday after hearing noises and seeing lights outside the building, Stockholm police spokesman Kjell Lindgren said.

A fire then broke out, he said, adding police had opened an investigation. "Things do not just catch fire outside (a house) for no reason."

The age of child refugees being brought to the United Kingdom from the Calais Jungle camp in northern France, has got considerable attention from the British media suggesting that those arriving in Britain on Monday may not be under 18. An anti-humanitarian reaction has come from a Conservative deputy, David Davis calling for child refugees to have teeth checked in order to verify their ages, the Independent reported on Wednesday.

In response to Davis's demand, the British Dental...

Standing with a group of children outside a refugee camp on the Greek island of Chios, little Roza can't wait to get an early start to her day.

"Good school, good school!" she beams, her backpack on and pigtails bobbing.

Roza, a Syrian Kurd, is one of a small group of children in Greece's island camps fortunate enough to get some schooling.

Thousands of others count education as just another loss in the long list of deprivations on the harrowing road from home.

Dozens of refugees held in a detention center in Madrid have protested, climbing on the building's roof, a spokesperson for the city's mayor said.

"We don't know the exact number, 30 or 40. They climbed onto the roof and the police are there attempting to negotiate," the spokesperson for Madrid mayor Manuela Carmena said Wednesday, adding that no-one had been injured.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning the refugees had gathered outside the center shouting "freedom, freedom...

Fourteen “teenagers” on Monday arrived in the UK from Calais as a fast-track system was launched to transfer youngsters from the "Jungle" camp before it is demolished.
The Home Office insisted it had “verified” the ages of all the refugees and that all of those who were brought to the UK were aged between 14 and 17.
However, Conservative MPs warned that photographs of the refugees suggested that many of the group were older than 17.
David Davies , the Conservative MP for...
