The French National Assembly approved the draft law, which regarded anti-Zionism as equivalent to antisemitism.

The bill was based on the International Holocaust Memorial Alliance’s definition of anti-Semitism.
In an open letter published in the newspaper Le Monde, 127 Jewish academics from France, Israel and many countries said that the fight against anti-Semitism was important, but opposed the bill that considered anti-Zionism to be equivalent to anti-Semitism.
Academics called on the French National Assembly not to accept the bill and underlined that the anti-Zionism was legitimate.
Stating that anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism are not the same thing, academics noted that criticizing a state does not mean ‘anti-Zionism’.
President of France Emmanuel MacronIn February, anti – Zionism was one of the modern forms of anti – Semitism and the International Holocaust Commemoration Alliance would accept the definition of anti – Semitism.
