Opposing the EU’s mandatory migrant quota, Slovakia and the Czech Republic announced that they will determine the migrants whom they will accept based on religious criteria.
The Slovak government decided to accept only Christians among Syrian migrants. Preparing to accept 100 refugees from the camps in Turkey, Italy and Greece, Slovakia will ask whether or not these migrants are Muslim.
In response to the criticisms, the spokesperson of the Ministry of the Interior Ivan Metik stated that there was no mosque in the country, and therefore, it would become harder for Muslims to adapt to the country and that their objective was to provide social harmony.
