United States and European Countries had not condemned until it was obvious that coup was failing. During the coup attempt, US Secretary of State John Kerry hoped for “stability, peace, continuity”, not for democracy. Amid the coup attempt, US Embassy in Turkey referred the coup as “uprising”. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon also said that “United Nations appeals for calm in Turkey”, not for democracy. United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson expressed “concern” over “events”. EU Foreign Ministers condemned “violence” against democratic institutions in Turkey after 5 hours when coup defeated. United Kingdom supported democratically elected government of Turkey after 11 hours when coup defeated. Briefly, from the very first moment European Countries and United States of America did not back the democracy and elected government in state of coup threat.
