The right-wing populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party made a declaration on the results of the referendum in Turkey, saying that voters of Turkish citizens living in Germany and using yes voting should return to Turkey. Alice Weidel, a member of AfD’s board of directors, indicated that the rate of “yes” votes from Turkish citizen voters is a sign of failed integration in many of the Turkish community in Germany. The AfD’s Weidel, however, argued that those who “are not suspicious of their loyalty” to their new homeland should be able to pass to German citizenship. There was a great deal of Turkish citizen voters in Germany on the constitutional amendment referendum held on 16 April in Turkey. Turkish citizen voters who live in Germany voting “yes” reached over 60 percent.
