The Alternative for Germany (AfD), a German far right political party which latest polls put in third place for the general elections that will be held on Sept. 24, continues with its hostile anti-Islam policy. The party’s co-leader and top candidate Alexander Gauland in an interview on Monday severely insulted Muslims, revealing his ignorance of Islam. Claiming that Islam does not belong in Germany, “This cannot be seen as merely religious freedom. The Islamic doctrine is incompatible with a free democratic order. Thus, it does not belong in Germany,” Gauland said. In his scandalous speech insulting Islam and the Quran, the holy book of Muslims, Gauland said: “Violence and terror have roots in the Quran and in the teachings of Islam.”
For the first time in Germany, a far-right party determined by polls will have a seat in parliament. The Racist AfD party had previously called on the German government to ban the adhan (Muslim call to prayer) and hijab. Adopting an anti-refugee policy, the far-right German party also demands deporting a great amount of refugees and ban their families from entering Germany. The AfD party stated that they would press for German Chancellor Angela Merkel to be “severely punished” for opening doors to refugees.
