It turns out that a surgeon in France has harassed and raped hundreds of children for thirty years. While some cases of harassment were made while patients were under the influence of anesthesia, the incident was referred to as the ‘biggest pedophilia scandal in France’.
The 68-year-old Gastroenterology surgeon, Joel Le Scouarnec, from the Jonzac region of France, has harassed and raped more than 250 children since he started his career.
It was determined that most of the abuse or rape incidents occurred while the patients were under anesthesia.
Laurent Zuchowicz, Chief Public Prosecutor of La Rochelle, announced that 250 potential victims were identified and 184 people planned to file a complaint. Zuchowicz said that the police have questioned 209 of them.
According to a report in Le Parisien, Scouarnec was summoned two years ago when a six-year-old girl said she was raped.
In the search of the surgeon’s home, child pornography and child surgery ‘sex scenes’, such as diaries were found.
In one of the diaries, the Daily Mail says that Scouarnec was angry with his family for not being alone with a little girl.
The Sun report says the surgeon was accused of having pornographic child photographs in 2005, but continued to serve in the hospital until his arrest in 2017.
Scouarnec’s lawyer Francesca Satta told AFP that the diaries contained ‘pure fantasies’, but admitted that the surgeon harassed some children.
