Denis, 6, applied for a residence permit in Sweden. The boy applied as accompanying his mother, who in turn applied for affiliation with a partner.
Denis is a Ukrainian citizen, just like his mother, who was found dead in an apartment in Södertälje on March 10 earlier this year. The police arrested a man suspiciously suspicious of murder, which is the weakest suspicion.
Today, Denis lives with his grandparents, who have lived in Sweden for six years and have applied to adopt the boy. But now the Migration Board has decided that the boy will be expelled to Ukraine – even though he does not know anyone there, and probably will end up in family or orphanages.
On August 15, Midia Soufi applied for imprisonment to try to stop expulsion. But on October 11, the message was received that the Swedish Immigration Service canceled the decision to suspend the execution of Denis expulsion decision. In other words, the boy should be expelled.
– It’s already sent to the police even. They are very fast, says Midia sadly.
The Migration Board’s decision shows a picture of an exposed boy whose mother has died and whose father has given up custody. The fact that his grandparents want to adopt him, according to Midia Soufi, his only relatives, does not affect the Migration Board’s decision:
“The data that Deni’s mother has died, that his father has abandoned custody and that the father can not take care of him, is new circumstances. Even Deni’s connection to Sweden, partly through his mother’s partner and partly through her grandparents who initiated an adoption process, are new circumstances. The Migration Board, however, considers that Denis has not, in the light of these circumstances, been likely to be handled appropriately when returning to Ukraine, ” says the decision.
The Swedish Migration Board writes that the expulsion decision also states “taking into account the principle of the best interests of the child”.
