Human rights organizations stated that Austria, one of the countries criticized for not opening their doors enough to Syrian refugees, deported 1,153 Syrian migrants.
In response to a question, Austria’s Minister of the Interior Johanna Mikl-Leitner said that 1,153 Syrian refugees had been deported so far. Minister Mikl-Leitner stated that 191 refugees were accepted into Austria within the scope of the quota of 500 people, announced last year in August and mostly open to Christians. Expressing that 2,000 Syrian refugees applied for asylum in Austria as of 2013, Minister Leitner stated that the figure reached 3,150 as of February.
