In the investigation of Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) after the failed coup attempt, 36 soldiers aere arrested and 14 are set free. The accounts of soldiers at Kuleli Military High School in the evening of failed coup on 15 July 2016 revealed the horror.
The infantryman Mustafa Güneri explained what happened in the ditrict of Cengelkoy:
“Most of them [rogue soldiers] were high in rank. We were at Cengelkoy, and took shelter. There were bullets everywhere. A group of soldiers from us started to attack the police center, our principal was hitting people resisting him with a rifle. The people on the streets were there to resist against the rogue soldiers. Our commanders said “don’t go back, look forward! A sergeant behind us said: “Fire at people”.
