First refugee group prepares to set off for Turkey under the new EU deal

Preparations are on the way for the first refugee group to be sent back to Turkey from Greece. Almost 6,000 refugees, mostly citizens of Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, are held near the Port of Piraeus and are to be sent to Turkey.
The measures predicated by the refugee admission agreement between Turkey and the EU are put to the vote at the Greek parliament. PM Ahmet Davutoğlu is of the opinion that the agreement will prevent further losses of life: “Through one-for-one method, the number of refugees in Turkey will not increase. This will begin on April 4. We will send one refugee to Europe for every refugee returned to Turkey. We will end these illegal ways and human smugglers who despicably derive benefits through these illegal ways.”
