According to the written statement of the Swedish Discrimination Ombudsman, a Muslim woman working in the municipality’s elderly people’s home in the Norrland region was asked to work without a headscarf. The woman was warned that otherwise she would be fired.
As a result of the examination of the warning, it was determined that the woman wearing the headscarf was discriminated against.
It was decided to stop the dismissal of the woman and the municipality to pay her approximately 70,000 crowns compensation.
