Israel to demolish residential structures south of Hebron

Israeli occupation forces today informed residents of Birayn, a small village near the town of Yatta to the south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, about their intention to demolish five residential structures and the building of the village’s council, according to a local source.
Foad Amour, a local activist, told WAFA that an Israeli army force raided the village and handed notices to local residents informing them of the demolition order, citing the lack of construction permits as a pretext for the intended demolitions.
Amour urged all local and international human rights organisations to annul the demolition order which he said aims at emptying the area of its indigenous Palestinian population for the benefit of the Israeli colonial settlement enterprise.
The village is located in an area designated as Area C, under full Israeli military and civil control.
Nearly all Palestinian applications for building permits in Area C, more than 60 percent of the area of the occupied West Bank that, are denied by the Israeli authorities, forcing communities to build illegally, and placing them under the constant risk of demolitions by the Israeli forces.
